Frank Waterton
Frank Waterton is an artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. In his practice, he looks to create objects that discuss questions of land, alluding to place and site. His work often centres itself through walks in nature.
In his sculptural works, he looks to create objects made from organic or natural materials which explore themes of entropy and decay - as they expire over time - but also of renewal and deep time, as they grow and display permanence through plant, rock and soil specimens involved within the work.
In his paintings, he looks to explore landscapes through abstract paintings of geological surface, using paint in a sculptural way to capture the land from a removed point of view. Through textual imagery reminiscent of satellite images and topography, he looks to create spaces for the viewer to employ as an environment for reflection.
